Family Spotlight

The Sausser Family

Heidi and her two children moved from Oregon to Sarasota County in 2020.  Heidi was working full-time to keep a roof over their heads. However, there began to be interference with one of the children’s schedules and school transportation. After attempting to fix the issue with school transportation, Heidi was unable to keep her job due to schedule conflicts that were out of her control. When Heidi lost employment, she immediately began hunting for new employment to have enough income to keep a roof over their heads. Heidi reached out to Family Promise SSC to get assistance with rent. She knew that she would be able to continue sustaining if she was able to get assistance just once until she was able to receive pay from her new job. Family Promise was able to assist with $1,400 towards August rent to avoid eviction and keep Heidi and her two children stably housed.

Family promise SSC is hard at work assisting families in our community to find and acquire sustainable housing so that they can stop worrying about whether or not they are going to be able to pay the increasing costs of day to day life and have a roof over their family’s head. We are working on several projects, in fact, to help create that housing that they can afford. Please call or email me to discuss if you are interested in being part of the solution to the housing crisis, 941-497-9881 x106 or jenniferfagenbaum@familypromisessc.org. I would love to talk with you and see how together we can solve this issue.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Fagenbaum, Executive Director
